Analysis of tourism in Córdoba
assessment and prospects for sustainable development
Keywords:
sustainable development, tourism, economic activity, employmentAbstract
This study quantitatively analyzes the impact of tourism on employment and economic activity in the province. The results indicate that between 2004 and 2022, tourism made a significant contribution to job creation and the stimulation of the local economy. On average, tourism accounts for 7.08% of the Gross Geographical Product (GGP) and 2.13% of formal employment. However, several key challenges are identified, including inadequate infrastructure, the need for training in sustainable practices, and insufficient international promotion of the destination. To overcome these obstacles, the study recommends improving tourism infrastructure, developing continuous training programs, fostering publicprivate collaboration, and implementing government policies that promote sustainable practices. In addition, the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation is emphasized in order to adjust strategies and ensure long-term sustainable development. By adopting these recommendations, Córdoba can maximize the benefits of sustainable tourism—generating employment, boosting the local economy, and preserving its valuable cultural and natural resources for the near future.Downloads
