ALTERIDAD Y ETNICIDAD EN RELATOS INFANTILES ESTADOUNIDENSES: DESAFÍOS PARA UNA PEDAGOGÍA INTERCULTURAL

Resumen

Este trabajo analiza el discurso contra-hegemónico en dos textos literariospara niños en el contexto anglo-sajón: Deshawn Days (2001) de Tony Medinay Otto (1999) de Tomi Ungerer. En especial se indagarán las representacionesde la otredad y cómo éstas desafían estereotipos culturales que circulan enel occidente. Desde una perspectiva intercultural, se analizarán los textosliterarios otros como material de lectura en la escuela, como puntos deencuentro e interacción para el desarrollo de sociedades contemporáneasrespetuosas de la otredad. ALTERITY AND ETHNICITY IN AMERICAN CHILDREN’S LITERARYTEXTS: CHALLENGES FOR AN INTERCULTURAL PEDAGOGYABSTRACTThis paper analyzes the counter-hegemonic discourse in two literary texts forchildren in the Anglo-Saxon context: Deshawn Days (2001) by Tony Medinaand Otto (1999) by Tomi Ungerer. The focus will be in the representationsof otherness and how they defy cultural stereotypes that circulate in theWest.
