The following reading summarizes the research and creation work of recent years within the field of contemporary dance, focusing on the review and reinvention of choreography through the diverse perspectives enabled by the rich methodological frameworks of situated artistic practices.
Currently, there is a notable development of studies emerging from the intersection of movement-based artistic practices and the critical-discursive practices of contemporary thought, where the artist-researchers themselves produce both works and theory. By inventing habitable spaces and/or circulation platforms, we explore tasks and practices that foster neighborly connections, creating the necessary conditions for conversation as a strategy to access experiences and questions—in other words, to attain shared knowledge.
