En las primeras décadas del siglo XX, Mendoza comenzó a conformar su campo artístico desde una perspectiva moderna en consonancia con lo que ocurría en otras provincias así como en Buenos Aires hacia finales del siglo anterior. Los artistas fueron quienes emprendieron esta iniciativa impulsando la creación de la primera academia de arte a la vez que generaron la escuela de arte regional. Los viajes y los intercambios con otros escenarios artísticos del país y del extranjero resultaron significativos a la hora dinamizar y concretar proyectos relacionados con el cultivo de las artes plásticas.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TRAVELS AND EXCHANGES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF ARTISTIC MODERNITY IN MENDOZA DURING THE FIRST DECADE OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
ABSTRACT
During the first decades of the twentieth century, the artistic field in Mendoza developed towards modernity and in line with what was happening in other provinces, as well as in Buenos Aires, near the end of the previous century. Artists began promoting this initiative by supporting the creation of the first Academy and the local school of art. The travels and the exchanges with other artistic scenes of the country and abroad were significant to dynamize and to succeed on these projects.
