Reading the city of La Rioja from the perspective of Social Inclusion: a critical perspective
Keywords:
recognition, disability, disability regulations, downtown infrastructureAbstract
In this article, we present a summary of the research project completed in 2024. The problem addressed was to identify whether there is a difference between the written text (national, provincial, and municipal ordinances) and concrete social practice, objectified in public and private buildings, infrastructure, transportation, and public spaces (identification of presences and absences) that foster the integration of people with physical disabilities who travel through the downtown area of the capital city of La Rioja. To determine the presences and absences in the city and also to determine whether there is true recognition of the citizen, we studied current legislation, such as national and provincial laws and municipal ordinances. In this way, we compared the two texts: the written text (legal framework) and the objectified text (architecture), to verify similarities or differences.Downloads
