Keywords:
nation, people, marxism, modernity, plurinationalityAbstract
The text synthetically presents a cartography of the idea of “nation” as a key concept of political modernity. Throughcritical reference to some classic texts on the subject such as those by E. Renan, B. Anderson and E. Hobsbawm, some of the most persistent problems in political thought about the nation are pointed out, particularly: a) its birthfrom modern States; b) the discussion with Marxism; c) its link with anti-colonial ideas. At the same time, somenovelties that Latin American theory and praxis recently brought to the concept are established, such as the ideaof plurinationality.Downloads
