Abstract

Since 1492 European invasion have been imposing new religions, new customs, new traditions and new ways of production in South America. Plundering of natural on earth allowed to accelerate the beginning of a new organization in the production and accumulation of wealth. This European Industrial Capitalism has transformed the view about natural resources. Food, basic for survival and human beings reproduction, has been reduced rapidly to a simply good whose main purpose was to hold industry as an input for production and as cheap food for the workforce.On its current stage, capitalism has given food a new value of use: that of financial asset. At the same time, in all the world in general, and in South America in particular, peasants, settler, farmers, landowners, indigenous peoples and small producers have resisted this advancement, keeping a reproduction mode which respects nature and biodiversity. Currently, different concepts of Family Agriculture try to encompass these groups and experiences, unifying their characteristics and their fight. This article proposes to revise the ways of production, and in consequence, to discuss and signify again the concept of Family Agrculture.
