El contexto de la narrativa estadounidense hacia fines del siglo XX se mantiene mediante el impulso dedécadas anteriores. La etapa posmoderna, pareciera extinguirse afectada por el mismo fenómeno que lehabía dado vida. Es así que, en el campo intelectual, se registran una serie de reflexiones críticas ymetaliterarias que pueden leerse hoy en día como verdaderos manifiestos y testimonios que funcionan comouna bisagra en la narrativa del periodo. David Foster Wallace, es sin lugar a dudas, el autor que anticipa estanueva etapa, y quien diseña los rasgos de la nueva subjetividad que caracterizará a los jóvenes escritores delperiodo. AMERICAN NARRATIVE IN LATE 20TH CENTURYAbstractThe context of the American narrative towards the end of the 20th century is maintained by the impulse ofprevious decades.
